Last week I spent my days in Les Menuires for a press trip. With 3 journalists (from Quote, Taste Snowboard Magazine & Snowrepublic.nl) I explored the village located in Savoie Mont Blanc, France. It was my first time to this destination so I was very excited! Read all about our experiences in this winter sports village here.
On Monday morning we left from Schiphol Aiport with a flight of EasyJet. It only takes 1 to 1,5 hours to get to Geneva (Switzerland) by plane. From Geneva Airport it is a 2 to 2,5 hours drive to Les Menuires. During the ride we passed by a few beautiful places, like for example Annecy. Which is situated next to the lake.
Around 2pm we arrived at our hotel, Chalet du Mont Vallon. A very nice hotel with an amazing view on the slopes. When you step outside you are directly on the slopes, also called the ski-in / -out concept. The rest of the day we explored the area of Les Menuires by foot and by skiing. The first night we had diner at restaurant La-Haut, and we ate some traditional dishes like cheese fondue.
The next day our ski adventure was about to start. On Tuesday we met with our guide Jerome and he showed us the ski area of Les Menuires and Saint Martin de Belleville. We had so much luck with the weather, it was very sunny and the snow conditions were amazing. After a morning of skiing we had lunch at Le Corbeleys. A restaurant in the middle of the slopes. In the afternoon we did some more skiing in the Les Menuires area and went sledging. The Roc N’ Bob experience, a special toboggan of 4 km long. To end the day we had diner at a working farm in Saint Martin de Belleville (La Ferme de La Choumette), you can actually see how the sheep and cows get milked here.
Our third and final day (of skiing) was a busy and special one. We started the day early to have a first track experience. At 8 o’clock in the morning we stept into the ski lift to be one of the firsts to get on the slopes. What an amazing experience! The slopes were just prepared and the sun started to come up. After a few descents we had breakfast on top of the mountain with a stunning view. What a way to start the day :).
After breakfast we met with our ski guide and explored the area of Les Trois Vallées, the largest ski area in the world with over 600 km of ski runs. In the middle of this area Les Menuires has a privilege location, and is therefore the perfect base to explore the area. From Les Menuires you can easily access the slopes of Meribel, Courchevel and Val Thorens. Our day of skiing ended with a lovely massage and a delicious diner in a Mongolian Yourtes.
And then it was our final day already! This morning we woke up in a Les Menuires covered with fresh snow. On this day we would actually go fat biking, but unfortunately this could not go through because of the snow fall. A pitty, but now we have something to look forward to for next time!
Les Menuires is a great destination to experience winter activities, with a lot of slopes (from green to black), great food and good hotels it is a nice destination for families, novice skiers and advanced skiers.
