Traveling for work, it always sounds terrific, and I must say… most of the time it is! Knowing a destination, service or product by experience makes it easier to find the ‘essence’ of it and to forward the story to others. What is better then hearing a story of someone who experienced it him or herself? The juicy details, thrilling emotions and adventures are real. That is why we travel and invite people to experience those journeys with us. Because by telling the real story, you will touch real hearts.
Last week I traveled with 3 bloggers and one journalist to Savoie Mont Blanc in the French Alps. The aim of this trip was to proof that is it possible to be able to ski in 3 days and show them around to let them know what it is to discover in this beautiful part of France. I must say we all took the challenge and… succeeded! An overview of our adventures in Savoie Mont Blanc; Valmorel, Les Menuires and La Rosière. We definitely recommand you to try it out yourself.
Day 1: Amsterdam – Genève – Valmorel
We gathered at Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam. Drank a coffee and took a plane to Genève. There, Corinne our contact at Savoie Mont Blanc was awaiting us with a giant ride. First stops: an American diner & the skishop Ecosport in Chambéry. After collecting all the material, I drove with the group of 4 to the first skistation we were going to visit: Valmorel. There we got to know how to snowshoe hike and had a delicious dinner at Le Petit Prince. We stayed in Hotel du Bourg, a cosy hotel in the middle of the small village.
Day 2: Valmorel – Les Menuires
First day on the slopes! First from the ‘baby slope’, later we where challenged to take a green and blue one. After a dogsledding ride near Valmorel, we drove up to our next stop: Les Menuires. Hotel: Le Chalet du Montvallon Spa Resort.
Day 3: Les Menuires – La Rosière
In Les Menuires we took our second ski lesson of the trip. Didier from the ESF ski school taught us how to make our turns and took us for a challenging ride on the blue slope. Later that day we got a tour through this vibrant ski station which is perfectly made for both families with children and younger people searching for a vibrant wintersport atmosphere. At the end of the afternoon we jumped in the car for a ride to La Rosière where we enjoyed a snowshoe hike in a dark forest and dinner in a Yurte with Evolution2LaRosière.
Eary birds, eary lessons. The weather conditions were a bit though. But adventurous as we were, we started the third ski lesson with courage. Our ski teacher Fab of the ESF ski school took us for a (sometimes not so) smooth ride on various pistes. The stops in the Antigel restaurant and the spa afterwards were more then welcome! To round up our beautiful trip in the snow, we took an adventurous ride on a ‘paret’ (a kind of sleigh) from the piste. After a dinner at Restaurant Genepi, we slept like roses in our appartments.
Wintersports in Savoie Mont Blanc
Conclusion of this trip is that Savoie Mont Blanc offers various perfect destinations for people who like to learn to ski. Gentle baby pistes, lots of green and blue slopes and in Les Menuires even a special beginners track. The teachers of the ESF ski school are professional, patient and good at what they do and the different villages offer a wide range of other snow activities to make your trip even more special.
Off to the next level…
